Welcome to My Blind Site

Although now completely blind, I have found a new best friend in my computer system. Armed with voice-recognition technology and some other clever bits of software I am able to keep in touch with the world via email and the world wide web.

Reflections

The loss of sight has been a horrifying and profoundly disturbing experience. It became a very black world and one day I spent 8 hours pouring my soul out to my computer; expressing my fears of the present, my terror for the future and eventually comforting myself with reflections of the past.

Now 12 months on my ramblings, as I have been known to call them, have been compiled, edited and published in a book titled - I'm Beginning To Forget What I Look Like - (published by lulu.com - ISBN 978-1-84753-123-0).

I continue to record my monthly conversations with my computer which are found in My Blog pages, however only extracts of the book are now available to read on this site.

Blog

Since that first day, my relationship with my computer has developed into monthly conversations.

In these I record my own experiences and my reaction to blindness. This is how I explain myself to the sighted world and give those around me an insight into blindness.
